Shashi Narayan Uhlmann, DNP, PMHNP, FNP

Shashi is a dual-certified nurse practitioner - Doctorate in Family Practice from University of Washington, Seattle and Master’s in Psychiatric Mental Health from Northeastern University, Boston. Shashi offers a holistic approach to client care. She treats the whole person, addressing mental and physical health in the context of the environment, cultural practices, norms, and the impacts of systemic concerns such as racism, sexism, and ageism.

Shashi believes in empowering clients to live fulfilling lives, embracing their ability to thrive through change. Her approach combines evidence-based, compassionate motivational therapy with medication management to help clients navigate challenges, uncertainties, illnesses, life transitions, grief, and loss.

As a bilingual (Hindi) clinician, a woman of color, and an immigrant who has lived in Fiji, Canada, and now the US for the past 27 years, Shashi brings personal insight into the complexities of adjusting to life in a new country. Her undergraduate degree in Women’s Studies and Community Health from Tufts University further deepens her understanding of women’s challenges globally.

As the parent of three adult children in a biracial marriage, Shashi has firsthand experience balancing cultural norms, ethnic practices, and setting boundaries in a multicultural home. Her journey, caring for my aging parents and studying Alzheimer’s disease, has provided valuable insights into supporting both aging loved ones and their caregivers.

Life is ever-changing, and Shashi’s goal is to help you navigate its challenges.
